USCIS Announces End of Parole Program in Moscow, July Q&A

A provision of the Lautenberg Amendment, set to expire on Sept. 30, 2011, “allows certain individuals who are paroled into the United States after being denied refugee status to adjust to lawful permanent resident status after being physically present in the United States for one year.” USCIS no longer offers parole to Lautenberg category members who are denied refugee status in Moscow, and those who have been offered parole must arrive in the U.S. by Sept. 30, 2011.
